How to Set Up a Minecraft Skyblock Server
Skyblock — start on a tiny island, expand with minimal resources. It's addictive, competitive, and one of the most popular gamemodes.
Core Setup
Install BentoBox (core) + BSkyBlock addon. BentoBox generates void worlds automatically.
Essential plugins: Vault, EssentialsX (economy), ShopGUI+ (shops), LuckPerms (permissions).
Configure Islands
Key settings in BSkyBlock config:
- island.distance: 200+ (space between islands)
- island.max-team-size: 3-4 players
- island.reset-limit: -1 (unlimited resets)
Economy
The economy drives Skyblock. Set sell prices carefully:
- Common items (cobblestone, dirt): $1-5
- Farmed items (wheat, sugar cane): $10-50
- Rare items (diamonds, nether stars): $500-5000
Challenges
Use BentoBox's Challenges addon to give players goals:
- Starter: Place a crafting table, grow wheat
- Intermediate: Build a mob farm, reach level 100
- Advanced: Create a nether portal, reach level 500
- Expert: Obtain a beacon, reach level 1000
Island Levels
The core progression metric. Blocks on the island earn points (cobblestone = 1, diamond block = 200). Players compete for the top of the leaderboard.
Additional Features
- Ore generators — Cobblestone generators that produce ores at higher levels
- Spawners — Sell mob spawners at escalating prices ($10K-$1M)
- Upgrades — Generator quality, island size, team size
