How to Join a Server
Connect to any Minecraft server in a few steps.
Copy the server IP
Find a server on the server list and click the Copy IP button. The address is copied to your clipboard.
Example
play.example.com— or with a port: play.example.com:25566Add the server in Minecraft
- 1.Open Minecraft Java Edition and click Multiplayer from the main menu.
- 2.Click Add Server (or Direct Connect to try it once without saving).
- 3.Paste the IP you copied into the Server Address field.
- 4.Give the server a name in Server Name — this is just for your list.
- 5.Click Done, then select the server and click Join Server.
Join and play
Select the server from your list and click Join Server. You should connect within a few seconds. If there's a hub or lobby, follow the in-game signs to pick a game mode.
Don't forget to vote for the server on its page here — most servers give free in-game rewards for voting.
Troubleshooting
"Can't resolve hostname"
Double-check the IP for typos and make sure there are no extra spaces at the start or end.
"Connection timed out"
The server may be offline or temporarily full. Check its status on the server page, or use our Server Status Checker.
"Outdated client" or "Outdated server"
Your Minecraft version doesn't match the server. Check which version it runs (shown on the server page) and switch in the Minecraft launcher under Installations.
Java vs Bedrock — which is which?
Most servers here are Java Edition. Bedrock servers are tagged with the Bedrock category — use the Bedrock filter on the homepage to find them. Some servers support both via cross-play.
